Cron Schedule & Syntax FAQ

What do the 5 fields in a standard cron expression represent?

The 5 fields represent: 1. Minute (0-59), 2. Hour (0-23), 3. Day of Month (1-31), 4. Month (1-12 or JAN-DEC), 5. Day of Week (0-6 with 0=Sunday, or SUN-SAT).

What is the difference between '*' and '*/5' in cron?

'*' means every possible value (e.g. every minute), while '*/5' means step values (e.g. every 5th minute: 0, 5, 10, 15, 20...).
