How to Test Mouse Polling Rate & Check for Double-Clicks
- 1
Move your mouse vigorously in circles inside the designated Polling Pad to measure your sensor's USB reporting frequency (125Hz to 1000Hz+).
- 2
Click normally in the Double-Click Test zone. If a worn microswitch registers two rapid clicks under 50ms on a single press, a defect warning will appear.
- 3
Select a CPS timer (5s, 10s, or 30s) and click as fast as possible to measure your clicking speed.
- 4
Press all 5 mouse buttons to verify that side thumb switches and scroll clicks register correctly.
Mouse Polling Rate & Switch FAQ
What is mouse polling rate and why does it matter?
Polling rate (measured in Hz) is how often your mouse reports its position to the computer. 1000Hz reports every 1ms, resulting in smoother cursor motion and lower input lag compared to 125Hz (8ms).
What is the mouse double-click defect?
Mechanical microswitches (like Omron) use metal leaf springs that degrade over time. When oxidized or fatigued, a single physical press causes electrical switch bounce, sending two rapid clicks that ruin gaming and everyday desktop use.
